Registration now OPENThe Long Lake Community Boating and Sailing Program integrates classroom instruction with  hands-on experiences to impart sailing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding skills to children. Throughout this immersive program, participants will acquire vital safety skills and foundational knowledge in boating, encompassing aspects such as boat anatomy, the science of sailing, knot tying, basic navigation, seamanship, rigging, de-rigging, and survival techniques. Ample opportunities are provided for children to apply their technical knowledge on the water, whether in a sailboat, canoe, kayak, or on a paddle board.Open to ages 8 to 13.  Our program spans a one-week session following the guidelines of the US Sailing Small Boat Sailor Certification System. Enrollment is limited, with a maximum of 20 children per week.  Students will have the opportunity learn about and sail Sunfish, O’Penn Skiffs & 420s.Each day, participants are expected to come prepared with their own supplies, ensuring they have the necessary equipment for their chosen water activity. From learning how to care for their equipment and tie knots to mastering the art of baiting lines, casting, and understanding fish habitats.  As their knowledge expands, they will be introduced to more advanced techniques and embark on excursions to various parts of the lake in pursuit of landing the ultimate catch.In addition to targeting Bass, participants will explore the diversity of the lake's fish species and honing their skills through week-long tournament-style fishing competitions. These friendly contests encompass categories such as most fish caught, largest catch for each species, total overall weight, and more, all while maintaining a focus on enjoyment and the acquisition of lifelong fishing strategies.What to Expect: A strong emphasis on boating safety, sun protection, and ethical catch-and-release practices. Registration now OPENThe Long Lake Community Boating and Sailing Program integrates classroom instruction with  hands-on experiences to impart sailing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding skills to children. Throughout this immersive program, participants will acquire vital safety skills and foundational knowledge in boating, encompassing aspects such as boat anatomy, the science of sailing, knot tying, basic navigation, seamanship, rigging, de-rigging, and survival techniques. Ample opportunities are provided for children to apply their technical knowledge on the water, whether in a sailboat, canoe, kayak, or on a paddle board.Open to ages 8 to 13.  Our program spans a one-week session following the guidelines of the US Sailing Small Boat Sailor Certification System. Enrollment is limited, with a maximum of 20 children per week.  Students will have the opportunity learn about and sail Sunfish, O’Penn Skiffs & 420s.Each day, participants are expected to come prepared with their own supplies, ensuring they have the necessary equipment for their chosen water activity. Registration now OPEN!The Long Lake Fishing Program offers an immersive and enriching experience tailored for young anglers. Designed to foster a deeper appreciation for fishing, environmental stewardship, and the great outdoors. Our program provides an ideal platform for young anglers to develop their skills and cultivate their love for nature.Participants begin their journey as novice fishermen, receiving comprehensive instruction in introductory fishing and boating techniques. From learning how to care for their equipment and tie knots to mastering the art of baiting lines, casting, and understanding fish habitats.  As their knowledge expands, they will be introduced to more advanced techniques and embark on excursions to various parts of the lake in pursuit of landing the ultimate catch.In addition to targeting Bass, participants will explore the diversity of the lake's fish species and honing their skills through week-long tournament-style fishing competitions. These friendly contests encompass categories such as most fish caught, largest catch for each species, total overall weight, and more, all while maintaining a focus on enjoyment and the acquisition of lifelong fishing strategies.What to Expect: A strong emphasis on boating safety, sun protection, and ethical catch-and-release practices. Instruction on identifying fishing holding areas and understanding feeding patterns. Lessons covering various fishing methods and presentations. Guidance on effectively using different artificial baits, including topwater, spinner baits, plastics, and live bait. Instruction on fishing techniques such as trolling, anchoring, and drifting. Registration now OPENThe Long Lake Community Boating and Sailing Program integrates classroom instruction with  hands-on experiences to impart sailing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding skills to children. Throughout this immersive program, participants will acquire vital safety skills and foundational knowledge in boating, encompassing aspects such as boat anatomy, the science of sailing, knot tying, basic navigation, seamanship, rigging, de-rigging, and survival techniques. Ample opportunities are provided for children to apply their technical knowledge on the water, whether in a sailboat, canoe, kayak, or on a paddle board.Open to ages 8 to 13.  Our program spans a one-week session following the guidelines of the US Sailing Small Boat Sailor Certification System. Enrollment is limited, with a maximum of 20 children per week.  Students will have the opportunity learn about and sail Sunfish, O’Penn Skiffs & 420s.Each day, participants are expected to come prepared with their own supplies, ensuring they have the necessary equipment for their chosen water activity. Parents are encouraged to ensure their child brings the required materials as outlined: Type 3 Coast Guard Approved Lifejacket Mask (optional) Water bottle Lunch Sunscreen Personal hand sanitizer Pen or pencil Colored pencils or crayons Notebook Change of clothes Towel Program hours are from 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Thursday, Friday is a built-in rain day.   Before Care is offered from 7:30-8:30 AM and is located at Camp T. Registration now OPEN!The Long Lake Fishing Program offers an immersive and enriching experience tailored for young anglers. Designed to foster a deeper appreciation for fishing, environmental stewardship, and the great outdoors. Our program provides an ideal platform for young anglers to develop their skills and cultivate their love for nature.Participants begin their journey as novice fishermen, receiving comprehensive instruction in introductory fishing and boating techniques. From learning how to care for their equipment and tie knots to mastering the art of baiting lines, casting, and understanding fish habitats.  As their knowledge expands, they will be introduced to more advanced techniques and embark on excursions to various parts of the lake in pursuit of landing the ultimate catch.In addition to targeting Bass, participants will explore the diversity of the lake's fish species and honing their skills through week-long tournament-style fishing competitions. These friendly contests encompass categories such as most fish caught, largest catch for each species, total overall weight, and more, all while maintaining a focus on enjoyment and the acquisition of lifelong fishing strategies.What to Expect: A strong emphasis on boating safety, sun protection, and ethical catch-and-release practices. Instruction on identifying fishing holding areas and understanding feeding patterns. Lessons covering various fishing methods and presentations. Guidance on effectively using different artificial baits, including topwater, spinner baits, plastics, and live bait. Instruction on fishing techniques such as trolling, anchoring, and drifting. Instructor: Margo GillenMargo Gillen coached the boys and girls XC, Indoor, and Outdoor track teams for a total of 20 seasons. During those 20 seasons, she has worked with distance runners, sprinters, and all of the field events. She was chosen as the Indoor Coach of the Year twice by the MSTCA and was selected twice as the Coach of the Year by the Lowell Sun. Margo brings great energy and dedication to the sport of running and is very excited to share her love of running with younger athletes. Margo is also a teacher at the high school and has over 25 years of teaching Spanish at LHS!!Margo has been leading the Youth XC and Spring Track & Field Programs for two years! Fall Youth Cross Country Program Description: Every Sunday athletes will learn the fundamentals of running. They will warm-up at the beginning of each workout, do technique drills to work on form, play games, have a running workout and stretch at the end. On the last practice, athletes will run a race. Athletes in grades K-2 will run a 1/2 mile and athletes in grades 3-6 will run a mile. Both the 1/2 mile and mile races will start at Fay Park and will continue through the same trails that the high school XC runners use to compete and practice.Fall Schedule: Sundays for 6-weeks (9/7 - 10/12)Grade Level: K-6 - 8:00am-10:00amCost K-6: $200R/$210NR  Location: Fay Park Littleton (across from Fire station @ 20 Foster St) and/or 57 Russell St School Track (depending on weather conditions)

Instructor: Margo GillenMargo Gillen coached the boys and girls XC, Indoor, and Outdoor track teams for a total of 20 seasons. During those 20 seasons, she has worked with distance runners, sprinters, and all of the field events. She was chosen as the Indoor Coach of the Year twice by the MSTCA and was selected twice as the Coach of the Year by the Lowell Sun. Margo brings great energy and dedication to the sport of running and is very excited to share her love of running with younger athletes. Margo is also a teacher at the high school and has over 25 years of teaching Spanish at LHS!!Margo has been leading the Youth XC and Spring Track & Field Programs for two years! Fall Youth Cross Country Program Description: Every Sunday athletes will learn the fundamentals of running. They will warm-up at the beginning of each workout, do technique drills to work on form, play games, have a running workout and stretch at the end. On the last practice, athletes will run a race. Athletes in grades K-2 will run a 1/2 mile and athletes in grades 3-6 will run a mile. Both the 1/2 mile and mile races will start at Fay Park and will continue through the same trails that the high school XC runners use to compete and practice.Fall Schedule: Sundays for 6-weeks (9/7 - 10/12)Grade Level: K-6 - 8:00am-10:00amCost K-6: $200R/$210NR  Location: Fay Park Littleton (across from Fire station @ 20 Foster St) and/or 57 Russell St School Track (depending on weather conditions)
