Long Lake Youth Boating and Sailing Program - Long Lake Youth Sailing Program Week 1 Registration now OPENThe Long Lake Community Boating and Sailing Program integrates classroom instruction with hands-on experiences to impart sailing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding skills to children. Throughout this immersive program, participants will acquire vital safety skills and foundational knowledge in boating, encompassing aspects such as boat anatomy, the science of sailing, knot tying, basic navigation, seamanship, rigging, de-rigging, and survival techniques. Ample opportunities are provided for children to apply their technical knowledge on the water, whether in a sailboat, canoe, kayak, or on a paddle board.Open to ages 8 to 13. Our program spans a one-week session following the guidelines of the US Sailing Small Boat Sailor Certification System. Enrollment is limited, with a maximum of 20 children per week. Students will have the opportunity learn about and sail Sunfish, O’Penn Skiffs & 420s.Each day, participants are expected to come prepared with their own supplies, ensuring they have the necessary equipment for their chosen water activity. Designed to foster a deeper appreciation for fishing, environmental stewardship, and the great outdoors. Our program provides an ideal platform for young anglers to develop their skills and cultivate their love for nature.Participants begin their journey as novice fishermen, receiving comprehensive instruction in introductory fishing and boating techniques. From learning how to care for their equipment and tie knots to mastering the art of baiting lines, casting, and understanding fish habitats. As their knowledge expands, they will be introduced to more advanced techniques and embark on excursions to various parts of the lake in pursuit of landing the ultimate catch.In addition to targeting Bass, participants will explore the diversity of the lake's fish species and honing their skills through week-long tournament-style fishing competitions. These friendly contests encompass categories such as most fish caught, largest catch for each species, total overall weight, and more, all while maintaining a focus on enjoyment and the acquisition of lifelong fishing strategies.What to Expect:
A strong emphasis on boating safety, sun protection, and ethical catch-and-release practices.
Instruction on identifying fishing holding areas and understanding feeding patterns.
Lessons covering various fishing methods and presentations.
Guidance on effectively using different artificial baits, including topwater, spinner baits, plastics, and live bait.

Designed to foster a deeper appreciation for fishing, environmental stewardship, and the great outdoors. Our program provides an ideal platform for young anglers to develop their skills and cultivate their love for nature.Participants begin their journey as novice fishermen, receiving comprehensive instruction in introductory fishing and boating techniques. From learning how to care for their equipment and tie knots to mastering the art of baiting lines, casting, and understanding fish habitats. As their knowledge expands, they will be introduced to more advanced techniques and embark on excursions to various parts of the lake in pursuit of landing the ultimate catch.In addition to targeting Bass, participants will explore the diversity of the lake's fish species and honing their skills through week-long tournament-style fishing competitions. These friendly contests encompass categories such as most fish caught, largest catch for each species, total overall weight, and more, all while maintaining a focus on enjoyment and the acquisition of lifelong fishing strategies.What to Expect:
