The Long Lake Community Boating and Sailing Program integrates classroom instruction with hands-on experiences to impart sailing, canoeing, kayaking and paddle boarding skills to children. Throughout this immersive program, participants will acquire vital safety skills and foundational knowledge in boating, encompassing aspects such as boat anatomy, the science of sailing, knot tying, basic navigation, seamanship, rigging, de-rigging, and survival techniques. Ample opportunities are provided for children to apply their technical knowledge on the water, whether in a sailboat, canoe, kayak, or on a paddle board.
Open to ages 8 to 13. Our program spans a one-week session following the guidelines of the US Sailing Small Boat Sailor Certification System. Enrollment is limited, with a maximum of 10 children per week. Students will have the opportunity learn about and sail Sunfish, O’Penn Skiffs & 420s.
