Instructor: Dr. Leah Abraham

Bio: Dr. Leah Abraham has a PhD in Chemical Engineering. Her science background in DNA includes experience sequencing DNA at MIT and teaching college and graduate classes in Biology, Bioengineering, and Statistics at Tufts, BU, Northeastern, and Merrimack College. Dr. Abraham has personal experience using DNA results to locate her own birth parents (in one intense 4 week search effort). She has a personal ancestry.com tree with over 300 DNA matches traced to common ancestors, as well as trees on MyHeritage, FamilyTree, WikiTree, and FamilySearch. Dr. Abraham has helped dozens of other people use their DNA results to locate birth relatives. She is able to advise on advanced DNA and tree tools including DNAgedcom, GenomeMatePro, Family Tree Maker, and Charting Companion.

Program Description: For individuals who have undergone one or more DNA tests and are keen to utilize their genetic matches for locating birth parents, relatives, or verifying ancestral connections, this comprehensive course is designed to kickstart your journey. The class will guide you through your ancestry.com and/or 23andMe.com results. The workshop will also guide you into finding more matches via ftdna.com and gedmatch.com websites will be reviewed. Leave with a plan to get all of your ancestry answers!

Class 1   -  How cousins share DNA with me
Class 2  -  Contacting DNA matches
Class 3  -  Gathering clues from trees of DNA matches
Class 4  -  Shared DNA (cM) leading to shared ancestors   
Class 5  -  Shared ancestors for DNA matches - birth parent clues
