Instructor: Anne Apigian

Anne Apigian has a Master’s Degree in Counseling Psychology and has been working in career services and academic advising at the University of Massachusetts Lowell since 2004. Anne is most passionate about helping adolescents and young adults figure out who they are, and helping them implement strategies for academic and personal success. 

This course is designed to:

-Guide high school Juniors and Seniors through the process of exploring and researching academic majors and/or future careers that match their strengths, interests, personality, skills, and values;

-Introduce students to various research tools for exploring and comparing colleges;

-Provide an overview of the college application process with an emphasis on best practices;

-Orient students to the concept of college (with an emphasis on the terminology used in higher education, the differences between high school and college, study skills & time management strategies for a successful first year, and available college resources);

-Provide an overview of available majors within specific categories (Arts & Humanities, Business, Education, Health, Social Sciences, STEM).
