Online Coding Classes for kids!

Code Wiz aligns its curriculum with the K–12 Computer Science Framework represents a vision in which all students engage in the concepts and practices of computer science.

“Beginning in the earliest grades and continuing through 12th grade, students will develop a foundation of computer science knowledge and learn new approaches to problem solving that harness the power of computational thinking to become both users and creators of computing technology. By applying computer science as a tool for learning and expression in a variety of disciplines and interests, students will actively participate in a world that is increasingly influenced by technology.”

The framework promotes a vision in which all students critically engage in computer science issues; approach problems in innovative ways; and create computational artifacts. with a practical, personal, or societal intent.Code WizAll sessions require a PC, Mac or Chromebook.*not all classes work with a Chromebook, please see description for details*

We maintain a low
coach to student ratio of 1:3 for kids ages 7 - 9 and 1:4 for kids ages 10+. All sessions are self-paced. Come be a part of the Code Wiz family and see what the excitement of coding
is all about!

Drag and Drop Coding Ages: 7-9 (requires PC, Mac or Chromebook)

Love the idea of animations, funny storytelling with characters or making 2 player games to share with friends? Cool! Using drag and drop programming techniques, you’ll get to create fun animations and games. You’ll first learn the basics and afterward, the extent of your creativity can be explored as you come up with and code your own ideas! Your child will learn concepts of problem solving, pattern recognition, design thinking and programming specific concepts such as: creating variables, loops, timers, functions and parallel programming, while
creating a pretty neat game or animation.

Game Based Python Ages: 10-12 (requires PC, Mac or Chromebook)
Learn to program in Python with a coding
strategy game. Defeat ogres, solve mazes, break into dungeons, level up and create your own game. Whether a student has coded before or not, they are able to jump right in and begin their journey through code! They will learn concepts of problem solving, learning programming specific concepts such as: creating variables, working through loops, control statements, while also
learning how to create their very own games and animations!

Animator - Create Animations with Javascript Ages: 10-17 (requires PC, Mac or Chromebook)
Are you artistic? Now you can learn to draw and
paint and tell a story from your perspective all with code. Express your creative side by learning how to create gripping animations and transitions using Javascript. In this course, students have used code to
simulate a sunrise and sunset, simulate the Fibonacci sequence, recreate the classic snake and ping pong games that can be played directly in the browser. Amazing stuff for your portfolio! Students will learn the concepts of problem solving, x-y, coordinates, and programming specific concepts such as data types, creating variables, while loops, for loops, if statements, methods and more!

Intro & Advanced Python Ages: 13-17 (requires PC, Mac or Chromebook) $250 Res, $260 Non Res
Python is used by some of the largest tech companies in the world! Python provides a gentle introduction to text based coding navigating complex computational problems. Projects include word based games, scripts and mathematical simulations. Students will learn how to code like a pro coder! They will learn concepts of problem-solving, debugging,
algorithm design, working through an array of situations from concepts such as creating variables, working through loops, control statements.

Intro & Advanced Java Ages: 13-17 (requires PC, Mac or Chromebook)
Expand your knowledge and skill set with object-oriented programming in Java. Learn the basics and advance to learning about objects, methods, classes, and use that to create card game simulations, parking garage software, and basically any simulation that requires object interaction. Using your Java skills, you’ll be able to develop an impressive portfolio
that cannot be overlooked by colleges. This course will make your AP Computer Science class a breeze! All students will learn how to program from the very basics of the universal Java "Hello World" app to learn about data types, loops, conditionals, methods, classes, and objects.

Minecraft Coding Ages: 8-12 (requires PC or Mac. Chromebook will NOT work)
Explore, create, or survive! Mine deep into the Minecraft world and create your dream world using code! In this creative course, you will challenge the odds, craft your own kinds of weapons, and build dream Minecraft worlds and games using code. You will make use of ready-made coding blocks to create mini versions of Minecraft games and worlds. Students will develop skills in problem-solving and find an outlet for their creativity. By building their own mini-games in Minecraft, each student will gain an understanding of programming within the context of Minecraft coding. Students will learn game design all within the comfort of Minecraft. Your child will learn basic concepts of coding such as loops, variables, conditionals, and more.

Minecraft World Builder Ages: 7-12 (requires PC or Mac. Chromebook will NOT work)
Minecraft economy has never been as exciting as Minecraft World Builder, in this course, you will learn how to run a city, manage money, protect the environment, all within the 3D world of Minecraft! This is not coding based, but more real-world economics, city planning, and life management! In Minecraft World Builder, you will be a part of a committee and learn to manage money by building onto your ever-growing city with your peers. Your child will learn teamwork, real-life money management, town designing, environment protection, public speaking, presentation skills, and economics all within the very popular 3D video game Minecraft.

Code Your Own Roblox Game Ages: 7-9 (requires PC or Mac. Chromebook will NOT work)
Become a Roblox game wiz using Lua! Create versions of your fairytale universe with Roblox. Roblox studio has all the tools to make your wildest gaming imaginations a reality. In this course, you and other passionate kids will learn how to make use of the many
tools on Roblox to code terrific games, relaying your imaginative capabilities to the world. By using Lua, you’ll be creating extensions to the Roblox game while fostering your creativity and learning real-world computer coding. Students will learn how to program within Roblox Studio using the LUA programming language. They will learn how to use the Roblox Studio 3D game engine by designing a 3D world, scripting different objects, and by learning the life cycle of game development from planning an idea, designing their game, to having a finished product! All while learning fundamental coding concepts.

Game Development With Unity Ages: 10-17 (requires PC or Mac. Chromebook will NOT work)
Gaming will never be the same again! Get started making your own 2D or 3D games from scratch just like the pros! Create your own game assets with Unity and modify various
properties and design beautiful levels using the terrain tools. Whether you are a beginner or have experience with coding, Unity will help you unleash your creative side to build awesome immersive experiences. In this course, your child will learn how to navigate a 3D game engine and learn a wide variety of skills by using a 3D world. You will learn how to animate, write C# scripts, learn to use variables and functions, work with gravity, 3D objects, and much more to create a game of their dreams! All while learning fundamental
coding concepts.
