Decorative Soap Making

This program is currently unavailable. Click here to view all of our current programs.

  • So, you’ve made a batch or two of soap. You’re comfortable with mixing the lye, measuring the oils, adding color and using fragrances and essential oils. Now you want to take the next step and learn some design techniques! Jennifer will go over the following: Advance coloring, using embeds, creating layers, mica stamping, mica top swirls, and creating “in the pot” swirls. Handouts will be provided for each technique with step by step tutorials. As a class student will make a layered soap with embeds, practice stamping soaps to create different designs, and create a two-color swirled soap with a mica swirl top. Students will get to go home with the soaps created in class. Students must understand the basics and have made soap before or have taken Jennifer’s Intro to CP Soap Making. Jennifer will not go over the basics, but just right in to actually making soap.

  • NOTE: This is an age 18+ class since making soap from scratch involves working with lye (aka sodium hydroxide). For safety reasons please wear or bring a long-sleeved shirt. You’ll also need to bring an old towel or blanket to insulate your soap on the way home.

Students must have taken Jennifer's Intro to Cold Process Soap or be familiar with making cold process soap. Jennifer will not go over the basic (it is assumed you understand this), but jump right in to design techniques.
