Art Studio: Charcoal and Pastel Painting

Instructor: Alma Bella Solis

Program Description: Using a combination of charcoal and soft pastels, you will produce your own compositions interpreting subjects ranging from still life to human figures. You will learn drawing methods including outline, contour, choosing colors and its application by shading, blending, detailing and connectedness/integration of the entire art subject. You will explore perspective, proportion, depth and dimension in arriving at a realism art.

Materials Needed:
Art Materials needed: Easel (either floor or table top) 18" x 24" Pad (Strathmore or, Canson) Set of Oil Pastels or, Set of Dry Soft pastels Tri-tip eraser Blending stumps (package in various sizes for students using the dry soft pastels) Drawing pencils (graphite & charcoal pencils will do for oil pastels but, charcoal pencils for dry soft pastels)

Ages: 9 and UP
